He is shown to be extremely intelligent and possesses a profound insight to study the emotions of people around him. Almost everything about his life prior to the entrance exams is unknown. He is shown to be extremely calculating and possessing superhuman intellect, perception, and strength. He's skilled at fighting and is able to easily manipulate the people around him. He is quite fond of his friends and protects those that he can without standing out. He has little regard for others' feelings and will coldly let them suffer to succeed, occasionally even his friends. ~!It is gradually revealed through the series, that he is the result of a special experiment facility "White Room", headed by his father, which is the reason for his otherworldly abilities. His time in the "White Room" resulted in him being almost devoid of emotions and facial expressions, which he calls an "inability" of his. It is shown in a flashback, that even as a child he possessed a similar unmoving expression that he would keep until adolescence.!~ ~!In Year 1, Volume 4, he manipulates some Class C students and lets them brutally abuse Karuizawa and induces mental trauma on her in order to learn more about her past and to manipulate her from then onwards, promising to protect her if she will become his pawn. !~ ~!In Year 1, Volume 5, he uses the girls from Class C that bullied Karuizawa to spy on Ryuuen and foils his plan to have Horikita beg Ryuuen on her knees for forgiveness. !~ ~!In Year 1, Volume 6, he easily manipulates the Paper Shuffle Test and inflicts heavy damage on Class C, forcing Ryuuen to not help Kushida (who wants Ayanokoji and Horikita expelled). He plants fake evidence of cheating all around her (even in her school uniform) without Kushida even knowing as insurance in case Class D lost. !~ ~!In Year 1, Volume 7, he is able to easily detect Kamuro spying on him, takes a picture of her to prove his point, and confronts her without giving the slightest indication of any knowledge. Later in the same novel, he uses Karuizawa as bait to draw out Ryuuen and beats him, Albert, Ishizaki, and Ibuki singlehandedly. !~ ~!In the epilogue of Year 1, Volume 11.5, Kiyotaka declares his love for Kei Karuizawa and she accepts. !~ ~!In Year 2, Volume 5, Kiyotaka and Kei reveal their relationship to the rest of the school.!~
